Maths Support
Maths Support at Study Nook follows a structured approach.
At Study Nook, our Maths learning support follows a structured approach, ensuring that each concept builds upon the foundation laid before it.
In our sessions, we break down mathematical concepts into smaller, manageable parts. This empowering approach helps learners gradually build both their skills and confidence. Paired with our supportive learning environment, it creates the perfect conditions for students to gain confidence and develop a comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts.
Our explicit instruction and multi-sensory approach to sessions benefits all students; however, it is particularly effective for learners with specific learning challenges, as it caters to their specific needs.
The Sessions
Session Structure
Sessions follow an individualised or group scope and sequence, tailored to your child's specific needs. Each session covers:
- Foundation number knowledge
- Explicit teaching of Basic facts - automaticity focus
- Revision of past learning and concepts
- New concepts taught following the 'I Do, We Do, You Do' model
- All students leave with follow-up activities for home
- Emailed lesson report to parents (and teacher if requested)
Class Size
Maths learning sessions are generally paired or small groups. One-to-one lessons are also an option. Paired and small-group sessions will only occur if there are learners with similar needs. Parents can select their preference on enrolment.
